The Yucatan Peninsula is yours to explore with Mayalink. You'll stay in the most modern of resorts, Cancun, and the cultural capital of the Americas, Merida, while visiting the most impressive sites that Mexico has to offer.
Day One Arrive in Cancun where you'll be met by our staff at the airport and transferred to your pre-selected hotel.   You'll stay in this famous resort city the first night with time to enjoy the city on your own. ( If you arrive on Saturday, Sunday is an open day to enjoy Cancun.  If you arrive on Sunday, the following Saturday is an open day for you to enjoy Cancun.)
Monday You'll be picked up at your hotel to begin the tour. The first stop is Chichen Itza, the great Maya archaeological site.  Spend the day visiting and learning about Chichen Itza.      El Castillo, as the pyramid is known, will be visited plus the astronomical observatory, the sacrificial well, the Nunnery, and the ball court, where ancient Maya rituals were performed.  Lunch is included at Chichen Itza.       Afterwards, you'll travel to Merida, the capital of the Yucatan Peninsula, where you'll spend the next four nights.
Tuesday  Today, you visit Uxmal and Kabah, a little over one hour outside of Merida.. These important Maya sites are breathtakingly beautiful and historically interesting.   Our local professional guide will show you the sites and give you in-depth information about these wonders.  Lunch is included. You'll return to Merida in the early evening.
Wednesday This morning you'll tour the capital of the Yucatan, Merida.  Merida has been  named the "Cultural Capital of the Americas" for the year 2000 by the Organization of American States Cultural Committee; quite an honor. You'll tour the main square, Governor's Palace, Metropolitan Cathedral, Casa de Montejo, and the Anthropology Museum. The afternoon is yours to enjoy on your own.  In the evening, you might consider a small music festival in Santiago Park which is scheduled weekly.    The Yucatan music is famous throughout the country.
Thursday We enjoy today visiting Celestun's Natural Reserve and the permanent home of pink flamingoes and scores of other aviary species.  Take a boat ride through the mangroves and see natural springs and the flora and fauna of the region.  Afterwards, continue to the port city of Progreso for time to relax and enjoy the scenery of this coastal getaway town.   Lunch is included.   For the archaeologically inclined, you can choose another special tour of ours, a visit to the Loltun caves and the Puuc sites of Sayil and Labna.  Both trips return you to Merida and the final evening in Merida is yours to enjoy on your own.
Friday You'll depart Merida for your return to Cancun and spend the remainder of your vacation.
Day Eight The day of your return,  you'll be transferred to the Cancun airport for your return flight home.
